Thoughts from the week

I'm sitting on a plane, on my way home after a week of MSDN Events. My flight last night was cancelled due to "Extreme Cold" whatever that means. So whatever.

With the change in plans I was able to go to the Dallas Dot Net User Group and listen to Rob Howard present his session on Killer Tips & Tricks...I was impressed by the crowd, over 200 people in a standing room only room at the Microsoft office in Las Colinas. The topic is similar to what MSDN Events was presenting last fall, but he had some interesting ideas and approaches that I'd like to try out.

This week I had Chris Menegay co-present the session on Visual Studio Team Systems. While I was covering the areas of the architect, developer & test products, Chris added some great insight into Team Foundation Server. Microsoft is really hitting the nail on the head with this product, for the way it will VASTLY improve the way that teams communicate and work. I've been in large IT shops, and seen the various methodologies and approaches to project management. The issue of communication & metrics of where the project is at us huge. Team Systems addresses this by providing a common tool that can be used by all the members of the team to do their jobs.

Cool...
